Some people suppose that the only way to overcome the orphan crisis is to stop abandoning children. But what to do, if a child has already stuck in a difficult life situation? How to help him or her to become full-fledged members of society?
How do the orphanage which is being built with Ruslan Goryukhin and his wife assistance look now?
On the face of it, it is a typical construction site, which will most likely turn into a business center or a shopping center. In fact, it is a foundation of an orphanage for girls who have difficult lives. This project is implemented by the Odesa Jewish Community and is led by Ruslan Goryukhin, his wife, and Avraam Wolf, the Chief Rabbi of the South of Ukraine.
Now construction is in full swing here, pile work for the foundation is being completed. In the future, a four-story building for an orphanage for girls, designed specifically by order of the community, will appear here in Vysokoy Pereulok, near Mount Chumki. Dozens of pupils of different ages from all post-soviet countries will settle down in bright, cozy rooms. The orphanage will be able to host 65 people.
Here you will find everything you need for a full life and educational process – living and study rooms, gyms, a dining room, a library, and a play area. Girls will obtain the same education as children who live at home with their families, and after graduation, the students will have the right to choose between starting working and continuing education.
The children from dysfunctional families will be engaged in additional training in accordance with special programs in order to bring them to a normal level of knowledge. For this, in addition to teachers, special teachers are involved in extracurricular, additional classes. Furthermore, periodic medical examinations are carried out. If there are any diseases or deviations in health, treatment will be applied.
Basically, the community implements such projects for donations and charitable assistance. This orphanage will be the second to be built in Odessa under the patronage of Abraham Wolf and Ruslan Goryukhin. The first one is located at the Bazarnaya str, and it was opened in 2012, now 45 children of different age and gender live there.
“We have good children. Of course, there are difficulties with them, as with all children: they often have conflicts, they can get over nothing, everyone needs to be approached with care, otherwise, they will shut down, hide and we’ll have to make contact again. With those who are younger, it’s easier – they are still not as protected from the world as the elders, but sooner or later we will find a common language with everyone ”, said one of the teachers of the Orphanage at Bazarnaya str.
